This is not for legal proceedings but for consumers’ awareness. It is in reference to the mental harassment I have suffered from the Tikona Team (The Internet Serve providers, based in New Delhi)
I have been a customer to Tikona internet for about a year, out of which for about 5-6 months I was distressed with the internet bandwidth. As any other regular customer I reached out the customer care with my issue to which they assured me to settle in a few days. However the issue continued and I had to complain again and again, almost 20 times to which nothing was ever done.
I finally decided to get another connection and filed for a disconnection request to the Tikona Internet facility on 21st May 2016. Baffled by my request they sent a technician to my place on 25th May 2016 to look into the matter. However I made them clear about my decision of changing my Internet Service Provider. They agreed.
I settled the bill for the month and got another connection from a different provider the very next day as 25th was the last date of the billing cycle.
To my surprise I started getting calls from the Tikona officials for payment of the pending bills which I had no knowledge about. Upon inquiry I was informed that the bill was of the usage after the date of 25th May which was outrageous as I haven’t used their modem since then. I refused to make any payment for the same reason. The official on the line told me that the disconnection request didn’t process entirely so I was bound to pay but I refused as I made my intentions perfectly clear on 21st May itself.
Since then different people call me and threaten me to make the payment. One of them even said that she would approach the court of Law. Another one said that she is calling from a Lawyer’s chamber in the District Court of Delhi. I demanded for a formal notice from the lawyer for the same to which she cringed and hung up the phone.
It’s almost nine months and I have been getting calls and texts and emails for the same. I call it mental harassment as they have been threatening me and trying to show me the power of being a registered company. I am a working professional and a aware consumer of todays generation and I would not tolerate such a behaviour from one such reputed company.
I don’t know what should be my further step. I only demand to be left alone with no encumbrances.
